What does single origin really mean?

What does single origin really mean?

You’ve probably seen single origin written on coffee bags or café menus — but what does it actually mean? It generally means the coffee comes from one specific place. For some coffee roasters, that might just mean a single country.

For us, it goes deeper. We focus on coffees that come from a single farm, a single producer — sometimes even a single lot. That level of detail matters, because it allows us to share not just the flavour, but the full story behind the coffee.

This is different from blends, where beans from multiple origins are combined. Blends can be delicious too — they’re often designed for balance or consistency and sometimes help manage costs by mixing pricier coffees with more accessible ones.

Single origin coffee, on the other hand, is all about traceability and character. It lets the natural flavours of that specific place shine through — from the altitude and soil to the processing method and the hands that produced it.

You’re not just drinking coffee — you’re experiencing the land, the people, and the process behind it.
