We had the opportunity to meet Jorge Rojas last year in Tolima when we visited him at his processing facility. We’ve been buying his coffee at El Parche Coffee Roasters for the past two years, so it felt important to meet him in person. We’re so glad we did—Jorge is an incredible person, not only producing beautiful coffee but also actively supporting his community and helping other producers improve their processes. It was an absolute pleasure spending time with him.
This coffee is truly special. It’s an exclusive lot, selected and imported by El Parche Coffee Roasters, and likely one of a kind here in Australia. It reflects Jorge’s dedication and commitment to quality, and we’re proud to share it with you.

About Jorge Rojas and La Roca Estate
Jorge ElÃas Rojas Vásquez was born into a coffee-growing family in Planadas, Tolima. He lost his father at just five years old, and from a young age, his life followed the rhythm of the harvest. By the time he was 12, he was already managing the family farm—gaining firsthand experience with the challenges and rewards of coffee production.
In 2010, Jorge took a big step forward by purchasing La Roca Estate, a 4.5-hectare farm located at 1,857 meters above sea level, where he set out to produce exceptional specialty coffee. His vision expanded over time to include other farms, such as La Gloria, which he runs alongside his sister, Angélica Rojas, who leads daily operations.
Jorge is constantly refining his craft, earning certifications like Q Processing Level 1 from the Coffee Quality Institute and learning from leading figures in the industry. His dedication has taken him to international competitions, including the 2023 World Coffee Challenge in Madrid, where he won Best Honey-Processed Arabica. He has also travelled as far as China, building new relationships to bring Colombian specialty coffee to a wider audience.
Beyond his own farms, Jorge is a respected leader in his community. Through ASOPEP, a producer association equipped with a modern central processing facility, he shares knowledge and promotes high standards of quality and sustainability. By roasting and marketing under the La Roca Estate brand, Jorge ensures full traceability and excellence—from farm to cup.

About this lot – Red Bourbon (Honey Process)
This exclusive microlot is a Red Bourbon variety, processed using the honey method. The cherries were carefully handpicked at peak ripeness, with additional selection supported by advanced machinery to remove any green or defective beans.
The process begins with 36 hours of fermentation in airtight tanks. After depulping, the coffee undergoes a second fermentation—this time with just the mucilage—for another 24 hours in sealed tanks.
Drying follows a mixed approach: 60 hours in a solar dryer, a 12-hour resting period, and then 180 hours of controlled mechanical drying. Once dried, the coffee is stored in GrainPro bags to stabilize and preserve quality until export.

Tolima: One of Colombia’s Best-Kept Coffee Secrets
Tucked into the Andes in the country’s west, Tolima is a region full of dramatic mountains, deep valleys, and lush green landscapes. It’s not the easiest area to get to, and growing coffee there definitely isn’t simple—but that’s part of what makes it so special.
While it’s not as widely known as some other coffee regions, Tolima has quietly been producing some of the most vibrant and exciting coffees in Colombia. Thanks to the rich volcanic soil, high altitudes, and cooler climate, coffees from this area often have beautiful clarity, bright acidity, and really interesting flavour profiles. Think floral, fruity, juicy—just full of character.
In recent years, more and more people around the world have started to take notice, and Tolima is quickly becoming a favourite for those who love complex, high-quality coffees.
It’s still a bit of a hidden gem, but that’s changing fast. If you haven’t tasted coffee from Tolima yet, you’re missing out on one of Colombia’s most exciting growing regions.
